Advancing the Arista design on VirtualBox

Got a little further along in the virtual design.

I wasted a bunch of time trying to get an interface on one of the switches to talk to the "real" world.  If anyone has any ideas about that, please let me know.

Was attempting to use Eth6 on sw06 as the gw and default route out to the world.

  1. Hi,
Did you end up going through Eth6 SW06 as you mentioned ?
You could bridge a specific virtual network to your host NIC. If it's a shared NIC (Internet traffic, etc), then you could have lot of noise
If you want a dedicated connection then you could bridge a virtual network with a second NIC dedicated to that virtual-to-physical connectivity, such NIC could plug directly to a physical switch.

Maybe one of the two options is what you have already implemented.

  2. I've done it on eth0 and eth1 without much luck.

I've fiddled between using Eth 6 as a switchport and no switchport. Right now I'm messing with it being in VLAN1 (the switch I'm connected to is a SOHO) and putting an IP address on the VLAN.

    Still not working.....
